Love Covers a Multitude of Sins

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
- 1 Peter 4:8 (KJV)

The phrase "to cover" in Hebrew means "to forgive".

So the above verse reads a little bit like this: "Love forgives a multitude of sins".

For example, if you steal from me, but I have love for you, and forgive you, your sin is covered.

And "covered" means something like a rug that covers the dirt on the floor.

When we forgive others, their sins are wiped under the carpet.

Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
- John 20:23 (KJV)

Forgiving others can be difficult, but it's for our own good. We are encouraged to "let go" of hateful feelings.

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
- Romans 12:19 (KJV)

Let God's Love flow, and forgive others. Ask God to help you with this.
