How Well do You Know God?

Here's a little Yes/No test for you.

1. Do you believe in eternal hell?
2. Do you keep the seventh day Sabbath?

Here are the answers.

Hell

If you believe in eternal hell, then you're wrong. God is not cruel.

The wages of sin is death, and not everlasting punishment in hell.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- Romans 6:23 (KJV)

Sure there is a lake of fire, but that stops when the punishment is finished.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
- Revelation 20:14 (KJV)

Sabbath

The Ten Commandments (including the Sabbath commandment) are the reflection of God's perfect never-changing character.

And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
- Revelation 12:17 (KJV)

Why would God change His own commandments?

If you don't keep the Sabbath maybe you don't know God as well as you think.

He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
- 1 John 2:4 (KJV)

Do You Worship the True God?

If you worship a cruel God (eternal hell), and don't keep His commandments, then who exactly do you worship?!?

Thousands have a false conception of God and His attributes. They are as verily serving a false god as were the servants of Baal. Are we worshiping the true God as He is revealed in His Word, in Christ, in nature, or are we adoring some philosophical idol enshrined in His place? God is a God of truth. Justice and mercy are the attributes of His throne. He is a God of love, of pity and tender compassion. Thus He is represented in His Son, our Saviour. He is a God of patience and long-suffering. If such is the being whom we adore and to whose character we are seeking to assimilate, we are worshiping the true God.
- Ellen White, The Faith I Live By, p. 59

Are you worshipping the true God?

Conclusion

Satan loves to throw mud at God to distort His character.

Accepting satan's lies about God is an insult to God.

Think it thru. God would never punish someone with eternal hellfire. That's just rubbish.

God is loving, kind, and gentle.

We should respond with love and obedience.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.
- John 14:15 (KJV)
