Wait on the Lord
Patience is part of the Christian character.
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
- Psalms 27:14 (KJV)
It is not always clear why we are told to wait, but God knows the plans for us.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
- Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)
The word "thoughts" means "plans".
Patience strengthens our faith, and prepares us for tribulation.
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
- Revelation 14:12 (KJV)
God will strengthen us while we wait.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
- Isaiah 40:30-31 (KJV)
Patience and hope go hand in hand.
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
- Lamentations 3:26 (KJV)
