The Tarry Time
The Bible clearly states that there is a short "tarry time" (lingering) before the end comes.
And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
- Habakkuk 2:2-3 (KJV)
Many have suggested that this is a test of our faith, e.g. are we truly ready?
Or perhaps another opportunity for us to get ready?
Either way, God warned us of this, and we should remain alert!!
The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
- Matthew 25:1-13 (KJV)
We are well and truly into the "tarry time", and God is asking us to stay alert, and be patient.
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
- Revelation 14:12 (KJV)
The end times may take some time, and God is still looking for His lost sheep.
So stay alert, and be patient.
For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
- Hebrews 10:37 (KJV)
