The Former Things
The following verse has puzzled many people:
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
- Isaiah 65:17 (KJV)
Does that mean our memories will be wiped at some point?
No, I don't think so.
I think it's God that is doing the forgetting.
I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
- Isaiah 43:25 (KJV)
Everything old will be destroyed, and God will start with a clean slate.
I do however believe that God will wipe away all our tears, and that our troubled memories will either fade away, or will transition into a new way of "understanding".
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
- Revelation 21:4 (KJV)
It will be a fresh start for sure.
