Six Thousand Years of Sin - Do we Need the Commandments?

Over the last 6,000 years God has shown us time after time that our righteousness is like a filthy rag.

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
- Isaiah 64:6 (KJV)

I mean, let's face it, when we stop obeying God's Commandments, things turn sour real quick.

The ancient world was so evil that it had to be destroyed.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
- Genesis 6:5-6 (KJV)

And despite all the signs and wonders that God showed Israel, they too became disobedient.

But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
- Romans 10:21 (KJV)

God even gave His only begotten Son to die for our sins on the cross, holding nothing back.

When God gave Christ to our world, He gave in this one gift all the treasures of heaven. He held back nothing. He can do no more than He has done to bring men to repentance. He has no means held in reserve for their salvation.
- Ellen White, Calamities and God's Love; Sin, Judgment, and the Shortness of Time

There is no greater expression of Love than a Father giving His only Son, but even today people muck and ridicule that very act.

We've caused God much grief, and God is no longer willing to sustain the world the way it is.

Sin needs to go.

The Solution

God is offering us a new body where "the knowledge of good and evil" will be replaced by God's Commandments. This is essentially how Adam and Eve were.

With God's Commandments in place we will then no longer be able to sin. It just won't come to mind anymore, and we will only have "the knowledge of good".

But this has to be a choice, because God will never enforce His Commandments on you.

With God's Commandments in place we will be led by the Spirit.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
- Romans 8:14 (KJV)

It may sound like something is being taking away from us, but it's actually the opposite. God is actually adding His Great Love to us!!!

God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
- 1 John 4:16 (KJV)

Misery

The knowledge of good and evil (the choice to sin) has caused us nothing but misery. (Remember Auschwitz?)

We live in the last days, and must all make a decision.

A life with God, or death.

Conclusion

And what do we need to do to be saved?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- John 3:16 (KJV)

And God will give you a new body, and eternal life.

We need God's Laws of Love. We really do!
