It's Actually Quite Simple
Morally
- We have broken God's rules (sin)
- God has put us in timeout, and wants us to say sorry (ask for forgiveness)
- God wants us to never break His rules again (repent)
Legally
- You have committed a crime
- You appear in court before the judge, and he says the fine is $100,000
- You don't have the money, but a friend offers to pay the fine for you
- You are now free to go
- This does not mean you can commit the same crime again
Spiritally
- God wants children
- Sin is not acceptable to God
- God will remove our knowledge of evil, so that we will be like Adam and Eve again
Conclusion
Although the above is actually quite simple, we should not forget that this is a life/death situation.
