How to Hand Out Your First 100 Tracts

Just to recap what Ellen White says about tracts (and books also).

Let every Seventh-day Adventist ask himself, "What can I do to proclaim the third angel's message?" Christ came to this world to give this message to His servant to give to the churches. It is to be proclaimed to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. How are we to give it? The distribution of our literature is one means by which the message is to be proclaimed. Let every believer scatter broadcast tracts and leaflets and books containing the message for this time. Colporteurs are needed who will go forth to circulate our publications everywhere.
- Ellen White, The Southern Watchman, January 5, 1904

So, how then shall we do that?

Well, it's not that hard. Just pick a street (any street, but maybe start with your own), and once you have a street, just go there, and have some fun with it.

I have found that an average street probably has 80-90 letterboxes, and, if you take into account the "No Junk Email" stickers, you can probably post around 40 tracts.

By the way, tracts are definitely not junk, but the legal definition of "Junk Mail" is "anything that has no address on it", so that means we can't post them there, unfortunately.

I never post the same tract twice, but what you can do is post different tracts in the same area, e.g. start with a basic gospel tract, then maybe a health tract, and finally a seal/mark tract.

That means with just one street, you should be able to post around 100 tracts.

I think that as a church we should also consider letterboxing in the immediate area around the church. These days it's actually rather simple to come up with a list of street names for any suburb in New Zealand. For an example, please click here.

In addition to letterboxing, you can also put tracts in your wallet, or go street preaching and hand them out to people personally.

I'm not going to lie. Letterboxing is hard, both physically and mentally, but it is kind of cool and fun. Just ignore the nay-sayers, and try it for yourself.

There is joy and satisfaction in the service of God.
